Chapters 10 & 11
I'm with lia, all the talk about tags and stuff is kinda making my head spin. There are so many new words we're learning it almost seems like a different language sometimes. It's kinda hard to keep track of all the meanings, but i suppose it only gets better with practice. The biggest thing i got out of all these chapters was how our sites and programs must be designed not specifically for the products offered so that the user should pick which content he wants or what he/she's going to do, but rather designed for the user and is taylored to his/her specific needs. This system is obviously more difficult to compose, but because of it's specificity it also has the potential of reaching the viewers most likely to become potential customers.

Hope I didn't miss too much last Thursday (like if we discussed tags). Like Jake and Lia, the only thing that really confused me was the tag sections.
ReplyDeleteinformation overload is inevitable at times, and yes, as we are picking up speed with the Informational section of our course, most of these technical terms can be hard to retain.
ReplyDeletethe technique is... we don't need to retain ALL of them. =)
our contribution based on our knowledge in the midst of this dynamic exchange in the field of Writing for Interactive Media as expressed in our projects could be characterized as a small dot in a white sheet of paper. and it has to remain that way.
having said that, it is best to focus on principles/concepts/samples that relate to the assignments you're expected to compose this semester. models of how interactive writers develop their concept are found in the Case Studies we're reading per week.
and i agree, jake, as we're trying to compose, we should start from the consumer/user's perspective. a bit of a displacement here, but to write something effective, we need to know what the audience might want to do to a site such as ours. then we write out these possibilities in our Proposal, Outline, and Script ... [and in the real world, as our client likes it, they'll pass it on the Production Team to produce the website].
remember, everytime you see a commercial, e-learning, etc. website, it all starts from the concept of writers like us!
